Chablis Grand Cru Domaine Fevre 'Les Preuses' 2012

75cl Domaine Fevre Chardonnay France > Burgundy Something special
The Fevres have practically a monopole in grand cru “Les Preuses” with the other two growers selling their production to the local co-op. All the wines are fermented and matured in stainless steel and are meticulously well-made and spotlessly clean. They have ripe, powerful aromas of citrus and apricot. They are relatively rich wines but also firm and minerally with power, grip and concentration. Like Chablis should be!

Nathalie & Gilles Fevre have had remarkable success so far, with previous vintages selling out with unanticipated speed and a host of encouraging press reviews reporting the high quaility of the domaine’s wines. Up until recently, Nathalie had been chief winemaker at La Chablisienne, considered one of the best quality co-ops in France. The domaine is situated in the town of Fontenay, north of the town of Chablis, in the middle of the appellation. All vines are situated on plateau and hillside sites on very rocky kimmeridgien soils, resulting in a naturally low yield. Vines are aged from 15-20 years for Chablis and 30-65 for the premier and grand cru wines.
